Wigber Low, Kniveton

Wigber Low is a neolithic settlement first discovered by J F Lucas in 1869, the most recent excavation was conducted by Dr J Collis of Sheffield University.

The cairn appears to be of Bronze Age origin, a small cremation deposit was originally found tucked in behind the kerb and included food vessel sherds.  Near to this and resting on the old ground surface were three jet beads, two bionical and one round.
